A: Game and Web 3 Development

PROJECT T

For the past two weeks, our game devs and artists are working on creating drafts for the graphics of the game, they are producing multiple versions of battlefields in semi-realistic style. We have been having discussions back and forth with them about the level of details and the elements we would like to incorporate into graphics.

Meanwhile our web3 devs are proceeding with the smart contract and the web3 API development, aiming to streamline the development process for the game devs. They are creating APIs for the game client to call on and get information from the blockchain, and the goal is to make the response time and reliability of it comparable with any web2 game out in the market.

BATTLE ROYALE

One of the most important blocker we had in the system for battle royale has been resolved in the past two weeks. In order for the battle royale system to work, we have to ensure that the wallet address linked to each game account is unique to prevent giving out duplicated rewards or multiple entries into BR. By utilising the custom Id feature of Playfab, we were able to achieve that. There are existing constraints on the custom id that checks for the duplication in the system, which in our case can help to verify whether the linked wallet address is unique and the only one in the system.

Our next step would be to incorporate the backend system and smart contracts into the game. With the unique wallet address logic, we can work on the premise that all the linked wallet addresses are unique which saves a lot of internal checks and the system will be more efficient and have better response times.

FACE TRAITS & ARMOUR SYSTEM:

The System is 95% complete for the GFC Human Fighter and will be released soon in the near future. Other characters in the GFC collection will continue to be updated in the next versions.

  • Model remain clothes: Bruna 8 armour, Black belt, GFC Orange Hoodie, Plasma Armour, Robotic, Chinese General Armour
  • Demo face trait & armour system in game, preview armour in game lobby and in game training.

DESTRUCTIBLE OBJECT

We will be introducing breakable objects in the next update. This will be a major change affecting the strategy of the game. Destructible objects in the game include grass, blocks, and there may be surprises in the future when you destroy an object in the game. Will luck or bad luck awaits you?

  • Remodel grass, replace grass model
  • Add destructible effect to grass
  • Preview:

COMPANIONS

Companions are finally coming, get ready to fight with your companion! After a period of testing and tweaking, we’re excited to announce that the companion is coming in the next patch next week!

PC CLIENT

We’re still working on improving so we can release the PC version as soon as possible. Currently, we focus on handling controls and upgrading the game’s graphics on the PC version.

TOURNAMENT AND FRACTUAL API INTEGRATION

Currently, we are prioritising gameplay improvements, new meta, optimization and focusing on the PC release, so the tournament feature is on pause. But we will go back to work on this feature next week and try to roll it out once everyone is used to the next update.

NEW FEATURES

  • MNK Controller Scheme Preset: PC players, rejoice! We’re thrilled to introduce the long-awaited MNK Controller Scheme Preset. Now you can customize your controls to your heart’s content and take your gaming experience to the next level. (Screenshot 1)
  • Update logic KeyBinding (Player can assign up to 2 keys for an action)
  • Add Music and Sound Slider

BATTLE ROYALE GAMEPLAY TRAILER

Some updated images of the Battle Royale video trailer have been remade in a style closer to the game’s graphics.

BUGS AND TESTING

We’ve been on a mission to eliminate those pesky bugs that can hinder your gameplay experience. Here are some of the issues we’ve recently tackled:

  • Exploit Extermination: We’ve discovered and swiftly neutralized an exploit that allowed players to rename the PC executable and data folder, enabling multiple instances of the game. Fear not, fair play has been restored
  • Touchscreen Troubles: Some of you reported difficulties pressing the NEXT or QUIT touchscreen overlays after a Battle Royale match due to an overlapping ‘DEFEATED’ overlay. We’ve heard you loud and clear and are working diligently to bring back smooth navigation
  • Control Conundrum: Assigning mouse controls in the Custom Control Settings proved to be a challenge. We’re investigating this issue and will ensure you have full control over your gaming experience.
  • Aiming Accuracy: Mobile players experienced a random starting point for the Aim indicator after using Manual Aim on the Controller. Our sharpshooters are on the case, fine-tuning the precision for seamless aiming
  • Animation Adjustment: We detected a slight delay in the Hammer of Gods normal attack animation. Our team of animators is hard at work, crafting a swift and flawless combat experience
  • Spectator Frustration: Some players found themselves unable to move in SPECTATOR mode within a CUSTOM MATCH. Rest assured, we’re fixing this issue to ensure you don’t miss any of the action
  • Companion Confusion: Enemy Companions had a little mix-up, displaying friendly green Hit Point health bars instead of the expected red. We apologize for the confusion and are swiftly correcting this visual inconsistency

Bug-Free Victories:

Our relentless pursuit of perfection has led to triumph over several pesky bugs:

  • Manual Aim is now functioning flawlessly across all platforms, granting you unparalleled precision in battle
  • Mobile players bid farewell to the cut-off Attack Touch-Screen buttons at the bottom right of the screen. Your controls are now seamlessly integrated for optimal gameplay
  • The Music and Sound Effects bar no longer responds to the LEFT JOYSTICK and D-PAD, ensuring a harmonious audio experience without unintended character movements in the background

B: Business Development & Marketing

Throughout the past two weeks, our team was attending several events across Europe.

It was great to meet a bunch of community members both in Lisbon as well as Berlin. We also had a booth in Berlin which was an amazing experience and a great way to showcase GFC and onboard new people into our community.

Yas was also invited as a speaker and held a personal keynote as well as a panel alongside Zeneca and others.

Our key takeaways from these events were definitely that connecting in real life with our community members and also with other founders and builders tightens the relationships and bonds a lot more and is an amazing way to further connect, build new relationships and deepen existing ones!

We want to encourage you to stop by the next time we’re at an event!

Those of you who met us in Berlin have already seen a couple of new faces at our booth. We are looking forward to formally introducing more of our team members to the community as a whole.

We will be introducing a new role on Discord — “Staff”.

We are also continuing to clean up the Discord as a whole and continuously improve our user experience.

We will add a selective few of our team members to this role. We want this to further provide transparency to the scale of GFC and the involvement of labour behind the scenes.

Furthermore, we are bringing back AMAs.

On our last AMA on Friday, June 9th, we went over a couple of previous Dev Blog updates as well as introduced our latest addition to the team — Stella (https://twitter.com/Stellitart) Director of Vibes.

“Stella, an experienced marketing consultant, with experience in Web3 working as a Community Manager and Strategy and Marketing lead for important projects. She has experience using Twitter to create high quality content to help projects grow their accounts and become more visibility, and helping develop communities. She’s a gaming enthusiast, and this is the reason why she initially got into NFTs over a year ago. She’s also a yoga instructor and is well-known on the Web3 Twitter space for her good vibes and amazing yoga poses. She’s also a talented artist that started painting with oil on canvas and has recently transitioned to digital art, focused mainly on anime and realism. She started her Twitter account little over one year ago, and already has more than 11k followers and more importantly a very strong community that supports her.”

We will be hosting another AMA towards the end of this week.

Additionally, we’re looking for a new Moderator to join our team. Due to some real life commitments we are forced to replace two of our amazing moderators. If you think you’d be a great fit, please reach out to Yas and Stella to have a chat!

Finally, we are excited to invite you to our upcoming Twitter Space with Zeneca, Henry (CyberKongz) and Monarch (+ some BIG surprise guests) on June 29th at 11am EST.
