Dev Blog Summary

a) Game and Web 3 Development

  • Our app is also now back on iOS store after we updated it, or depending on your region you will see it later today/tomorrow
  • Dev team fixed a number of bugs in the latest version including the initialization issue and a number of other NFT duplication problems, new characters including Doge Pound and NeoTokyo characters were added
  • Game dev team continue to work on Battle Royale in the background, running different tests and optimizations
  • On the web3 development side the new dashboard is ready and will be going live this week, in order to test current features this will be deployed under a new subdomain. The next step once this is fully up and running is to integrate all other features and mechanics under this page for easier user access when it comes to forging, training etc
  • We also made or are in the process of making a couple of other changes to some of our mechanics, for example we are going to be introducing tiered forging prices as well as improving the logic on Gen 2 training so the difference between Genesis weapons and P2E weapons are more obvious, both requested by the community
  • Also the web3 team is starting on the design of the Battle Royale mode which is also discussed below, there are still a few technical points that still need to be explored as it needs to be permissionless and as crypto is involved, we need to ensure the system is air-tight and have fallback logic in case of exploits. The team is currently designing the system with help from our advisors and we will provide updates on this game mode as it gets developed

b) Business Development & Marketing

  • The core team had an in-depth discussion on the direction the project is headed over several days last week and we have a very clear vision on where we are headed to next. Immediate priority is 1) on hosting the cross-IP tournament to increase project exposure in the web3 space, then we will launch 2) Battle Royale mode to introduce a different way of playing GFC which isn’t about P2E/ROI but more focused on fun-factor with play-to-own assets 2.5) In the meantime we are also going to complete some of the outstanding items we have promised for awhile including companions utility and others
  • We hear all the ideas and suggestions the community is giving, and although we cannot respond to each and every single on of them we can assure you that they are either 1) being worked on 2) or not something that is feasible to do right now given the constraints of our ecosystem or team capacity (20 devs working on game and web3 features, so there is limited capacity) — again all feedback in chat is heard and considered but they have to fit in with a thousand moving pieces in the ecosystem
  • Just yesterday we officially burned over 1.2M GCOIN forever which means the total market cap is now 1.2M GCOIN lower than it would otherwise be — this is just the start and as we introduce more utility for GCOIN including entry fees for our upcoming Battle Royale mode and more we expect to see this number increase; also a good time to remind players that GCOIN yield for Gen 1 fighters take place across 30 months (which began Sept 2021) and we are already around 14 months in which means almost half way. Once gaming issuance stops GCOIN will become a deflationary in-game token
  • We entered a new partnership with Bidshop, Bidshop is the first and only trustless marketplace with encrypted & secret bidding, opening a new world of gamification and liquidity for NFTs. Our community is now able to win bluechip NFTs like a BAYC or MAYC just from playing GFC as a result from this partnership

c) Community

  • Mr Janet will be stepping down as Community manager due to IRL commitments, he will continue to help with the project on and off but no longer in an official capacity. We would like to thank him for all the work he has done for the project and wish him the best
  • On October 8th 2CryptoGuild hosted the first Galaxy Fight Club scholar meetup in the Bacolod City, Philippines, around 50 of their scholars attended for a night of fun. We love seeing our game impacting local communities in different parts of the world, if you are also running similar communities we would love to hear from you!
  • Community member 0xTayasa helped to create an updated GFC dashboard showing some key KPIs on GCOIN burn and other interesting statistics here — https://dune.com/0xtayasa/gfc. We included some instructions on how you can use it for your own analysis below, one interesting takeaway is that the launch of P2E has increase GCOIN burn significantly

A: Game and Web 3 Development

GAME

Game System:

  • There was a bug in which users would be stuck in the middle of the game upon initialization, we have now fixed this initialization bug
  • The results screen now show the actual NFTs that other players used in the match
  • Fixed NFT duplicate error
  • Improved texture atlas to improve NFT loading performance
  • Implemented tokenId display logic for collections using only default image
  • Implemented a logic to check the player’s connection in the ranked matches within 10s, if the user does not receive enough information about the match (information about other players) it means the connection is not good enough and the player will automatically exit the game
  • We continue to work on Battle Royale in the background, running different tests and optimizations

Added new character:

  • Doge Pound, Doge Pound Puppies
  • NeoTokyo Citizens, NeoTokyo Outer Citizens
  • Added a number of other characters that we had finished creating last week including Moonbirds, Tribe Lost Realms and MetaBillionaire

WEB3 DEVELOPMENT

1. Dashboard revamp

The internal testing phase has been completed for the revamped dashboard, and it will go live this week. In order to maintain undisrupted services on the current features, we are going to deploy the new dashboard under a new subdomain. By doing this, the new dashboard is put to test by real users with day-to-day use cases, as well as real traffic and with your help we can iron out the last few bits of problems before the old dashboard gets replaced.

2. Continued Partner Integration

All the partnering NFT collections in our current patch have been implemented into the energy system as well as the game. We are now in the process of reaching out to our next round of potential partners, as the package size of the game file increases (due to new weapons/characters) we will have to be increasingly selective on which partners we include into our game.

Subtask 1: Gathering partner NFT images and metadata
Status: Completed.

Completed, no update on this item.

Subtask 2: Energy system Ingestion
Status: Completed.

Completed, no update on this item.

Subtask 3: NFT Auth API update
Status: Completed.

Completed, no update on this item.

Subtask 4: Creating game model for characters and weapons
Status: Completed.

Currently our tester team is looking out for any flaws in the latest game build with the character models and the new batch of characters will be ready in game very soon.

Subtask 5: In game stats balancing
Status: Completed.

Character stats have been tested out and finalized for all the partnering characters.

3. Battle Royale Game Mode

Battle Royale game mode is the next item on the list in our development task sheet. We would like to have players pay an entry fee in GCOIN, be able to participate in a Battle Royale game and win a prize in GCOIN without supervision from the team, that’s our ultimate goal.

The game mode on the game side is in development, but there are still a few technical points that we still need to explore and work out the specifics on, especially on the web3 side. Since the entire process should be permissionless and crypto is involved, we need to ensure the system is air-tight and have fallback logic in case of exploits.

The team is currently designing the system with help from our advisors and we will provide updates on this game mode as it gets developed.

Recent changes/fixes:

1. Weapon forge smart contract update
Status: Testing and reviewing

After listening to the feedback from the community, we have decided to introduce tiered forging prices to the weapon forge contract. Each tier will have a different price for forging in GCOIN, this should encourage more forging to happen at the lower tier and increase GCOIN spend in forging.

Alongside that, we have decided to reduce the number of weapon ingredients required for forging to 2 for all tiers. It was suggested by the community to further encourage forging.

Dave and the dev team also took the opportunity to make the forging contract upgradable. This means that they will no longer have to redeploy an entirely new contract if there were a change in the contract code and set up the permission of related contracts. This will reduce the chances of making mistakes during deployment and speed up the overall development process.

2. Gen2 outcome calculation tweak
Status: In progress

We have had feedback on low tier P2E weapons that can train good or even better Gen2 than Genesis weapons, and we have decided to tweak the equation used to calculate the outcome. P2E weapons will have a significant reduction in score when it comes to Gen2 training in comparison with Genesis weapons.

On another note, we are also changing the randomness function used in the equation to make adjacent Gen2 with similar tokenId to look more different. For players who like to train multiple Gen2 at once, they don’t have to worry about getting a batch of similar Gen2s.

B: Business Development & Marketing

MARKETING

The second trophy run is still running and we are seeing great success in this concept. We once again had a noticeable increase in DAU from launching the trophy run and are seeing a steady activity level across the board.

To kick off the second trophy run, we held a YouTube live stream. During the live stream, we had a lot of fun opening loot boxes and giving away some amazing weapons, invited some of our partners to introduce us to their projects and share their experience with the cross-IP championship events thus far, and much more!

You can find the replay of the stream here —

As part of the cross-IP championship, we launched another gleam campaign and gave away 1E worth of NFTs — one B64 Bored Box and two Bored Blasters.

The winners can be found here —

We are randomly giving away another B64 Bored Box to a user who shares a cool gameplay capture on Twitter and tags us and the project he’s representing in-game. More information can be found in this Tweet -

Additionally, we entered a new partnership with Bidshop. Bidshop is the first and only trustless marketplace with encrypted & secret bidding, opening a new world of gamification and liquidity for NFTs.

Together with Bidshop, our community is able to win bluechip NFTs like a BAYC or MAYC. You can find the details of the giveaway in the following Tweet -

Finally, there are some major updates from Glowlabs for our Twitter Impact Program. Glowlabs now allows us to reward Discord users based on their role.

We are looking to introduce a new role system to reward genuine activity on our Discord across the board. Additionally, Glowlabs now also displays a leaderboard that will show both Discord & Twitter activity. Rewards for both platforms will be claimable as usual on our website.

C: Community

LOCAL COMMUNITIES

On October 8th 2CryptoGuild hosted the first Galaxy Fight Club scholar meetup in the Bacolod City, Philippines. Around 50 2CG scholars gathered for a fun night of fellowship, food, and drinks, they also gave away 3 GFC Hoodies and 4 GFC Hats to 7 lucky winners.

We love seeing our game impacting local communities in different parts of the world, if you are also running similar communities we would love to hear from you!

GFC DASHBOARD

  • Community member 0xTayasa helped to create an updated GFC dashboard showing some key KPIs on GCOIN burn and other interesting statistics here — https://dune.com/0xtayasa/gfc

To use the dashboard:

1. Since Dune Analysis does not refresh when you open the Dashboard, please be reminded to insert a random integer (e.g. 1, 2) in the box positioned at left top corner and press “enter” to synchronize the whole dashboard.

2. In the “P2E Dashboard”, the Fragment Leaderboard show the players with highest amount of Fragment Redeemed (i.e. on-chain Gold and Silver Frags). Though some players might possibly have a certain amount of Frag being stored off-chain, this Leaderboard still give you a high-level idea of who are the top players.

3. The “Fragment Redemption”, “Key Crafting” and “Loot Box Opening” charts illustrate the on-chain P2E gameloop, on both daily and cumulative basis. Assuming that the “drop rate” remained unchanged, the “Fragment Daily Redemption Chart” could be a good approximate of how much DAU we have at the moment.

4. Below are three interesting probability charts regarding the success rate of Key Crafting (by combining 3 key frags) as well as the weapon distribution of Loot Box Opening Event (Gold versus Silver Key). Based on these charts, Guild can fine tune their existing tactics (e.g. fighter, weapon, energy, time zone restriction, etc) among the scholars to maximize the earning outcome

5. In the Fighter Section, it gives an overview of the Gen1 and Gen2’s trading data in Opensea. Training, being one of the most important mechanics in GFC, has been reflected in the below two graphs, which are the : (i) Gen2 training timechart; and (ii) Gen 2 Training Ingredient (i.e. weapon) Breakdown

6. The Weapon Section focuses on capturing the circulating supply of both Genesis and P2E Weapon. The below graphs clearly indicate the breakdown of daily minting and burning event of weapons. Interestingly, the P2E weapon chart tells that investors/gamers are currently more incline to use P2E Weapon for training rather than forging.

7. In the GCOIN section, the reader can know a lot of useful information about $GCoin, such as the price movement, unique holder amount, top holders, and “burning” amount. As of 31st October 2022, close to 1.3 million of $GCOIN has been “burned”, which is almost two-fold the amount before the launch of P2E. The “Burning Leaderboard” ranks the Whale in terms of their GCOIN spending, and you will know who has contributed the most to the success of the game.

Note that this dashboard is an independent effort and not affiliated with the GFC project. With the progression of the timeline, further components might be added.
