Dev Blog Summary

a) Game and Web 3 Development

  • After 2 weeks of P2E testing, all major bugs identified have now been resolved, the next step is to adjust key fragments drop rate to ensure a rewarding experience for players while preventing an oversupply of key fragments
  • Key fragments drop rate so far should not be used as indication on future drop rates, hard caps were set in order to carefully control supply and prevent possibility of exploitation while P2E is still newly launched, if you have won over 10+ games and not received a key fragment drop then you have most probably run into this hard cap
  • Starting from tomorrow we are making a few adjustments to improve rewards 1) introducing dynamic drop rates based on how long you have not won a reward for 2) increasing total key fragments in pool by 50% 3) slowly phasing out hard cap
  • In the last game update we have also introduced stronger and newer bots designed to provide a better experience for players so as to not have to ‘carry’ the bots, we will continue to adjust this going forward to strike the right balance
  • We have also made updates for certain abilities and weapon skills, mainly reducing cool-downs on abilities as well as changing attack radius and cool-downs on different weapon attacks
  • We also released two new features this week on our main website 1) GCOIN buy-in page and 2) Weapons library

b) Business Development & Marketing

  • Previously we released our Impact Program with two community-driven marketing tools in Glow Labs and NFTimpact, so far these are yielding good results with our Tweet impressions up 50%+ and roughly 450 active community members engaging with us consistently
  • Concluded our athletes campaign with Vaynersports with the highlight being Chris Weidman and Michelle Waterson, we are now looking into further possibilities of collaboration
  • A lot of the work being done behind-the-scenes have been on preparing for the Cross-IP Championship, we have onboarded over 20 projects to participate so far and planning on a series of mini-events for activating each partner

c) Community

  • We are extending the time window for entries into the our Youtube channel banner competition, look for #banner-me-youtube channel to enter
  • We have been keeping track teams entering quarter finals of tournaments to determine the ‘best’ guild, congratulations to Comfy Ventures for dominating July and also taking the crown for August, just ahead of of The Way of Zen by 150 points
  • We ran another 2 ETH bi-weekly tournament last weekend with a 7 point weapon cap for even more competitiveness, we particularly like that team Kamikaze (a non-guild team) managed to make it into the semi-finals which goes to show that you can make it even without being part of a guild!

A: Game and Web 3 Development

Game

GAME SYSTEM:

  • Team mode increase time from 3mins->4mins
  • Add over-the-air (OTA) update function which allow our team to make more rapid changes to patch bugs without having to release an entirely new version to Apple/Google

BALANCING: (dmg= damage, cd = cooldown)

Ability:

  • Shield for melee weapons: block 55% of dmg received > 50% dmg received
  • Dash: changed cd from 15>14s
  • Jump: changed cd from 15>14s
  • Shield for range weapon: changed cd from 15>16s

Weapon Skill:

  • Bruna Plasma Blaster: changed number of bullets from ultimate from 1>3, dmg reduced from 1826>1626
  • The Cube: changed skill cd from 2>2.2s; changed ultimate cd from 18>19s
  • Sling Shot: changed skill dmg from 1248>1268; changed number of bullets of ultimate from 1>2; dmg reduced from 2345>2045; dmg bounce from 1956>1756;
  • Special Delivery: increased radius of ultimate from 1.5>1.8
  • Bruna Fire Axe: increased radius of ultimate from 3.5>4
  • Divine Blade: changed dmg block when cast ultimate from 30%>35%, bonus speed to caster during cast ultimate 0.8 speed
  • Split Frost Blade: increased ultimate dmg 1000>1343
  • Asteroid Brown: increased radius of ultimate from 4>4.5
  • Asteroid Green: decreased range of ultimate from 5>4.5
  • Asteroid Pink: increased radius of ultimate from 4>4.5, cd from 17>18s, dmg ultimate from 2168>2368
  • Candy Gun: increased radius of skill effect from 1>1.5; increase radius of effect skill/bullet from 1>1.5
  • Crossbow: increased range of skill from 7>8; increased ultimate bullet speed from 9>10

P2E Debugging

There was a number of bugs upon P2E release in the last 2 weeks of testing, these have now been resolved. The next step is to adjust key fragments drop rate. First of all we will be increase the number of keys that could be won each day by 50%, we will also change the

  • Energy UI issue

Status: Fixed in new game build

Energy bars on characters/weapons are inaccurate in the previous build.
This caused a lot of confusion, players thinking they should be earning gold fragments instead of silver, when in reality their NFT have ran out of energy and they are only eligible for silver fragments for that match. This will be the reason why most of you have played 10+ matches without a drop, this is now fixed.

  • Missing Trophies

Status: Fixed in new game build

This was caused by the energy system and trophy system not being able to get response at the same time at the end of matches. We have added delay in the end game screen to wait for both endpoint’s results to resolve this issue.

  • Genesis weapons not showing gold frags eligibility

Status: Fixed in new game build

It was an UI issue, players who played with Genesis weapons that have energy are eligible for gold fragments if they won the match. Note that although the default weapon(which is the pistol) looks the same as the genesis weapon, it does not make you eligible for gold fragments.

  • Characters not showing up

Status: Fixed in new game build

There weresome reports of Gen 2 not showing up in-game, and we have patched this issue. Some partner’s characters have not been implemented in the game yet, for example CyberKongz VX on Polygon (while CyberKongz VX on ETH and CyberKong OG collection are implemented in game).

Note that your Gen 2 fighter will only become playable in game after it is revealed. (7 days after training)

  • Different Gen 2 showing up in game

Status: Fixed in new game build

We created a separate API endpoint to provide information on Gen 2 for the game to use, but it turns out that the mapping of the metadata was off. This issue was discovered and fixed last week.

  • Games not awarding experience

Status: Fixed in new game build

Upon investigation we have identified the issue to be an UI issue, experiences are still rewarded in the backend and it is refreshed upon login.

Other Ongoing Tasks

DASHBOARD REVAMP

We are aware that the dashboard is buggy at times, and have received reports such as not being able to login with wallet at times, Gen2 fighter not being counted towards “Fighters”, wallet link and password change being buggy. We said that we are going to rewrite the entire dashboard after P2E launched and we are working towards that, rebuilding infrastructure and rewriting functions/features, hoping to provide a better user experience for our community

OTHER ONGOING TASKS

GCOIN BUY-IN PAGE

Since GCOIN is on Polygon, to those who are less experienced in the crypto space, it is often considered troublesome/difficult to buy into GCOIN. We have had this idea of creating an all-in-one page where you can buy crypto, bridge assets and swap for GCOIN. Recently with the help of our partners, Umbria bridge and Moon Pay, we are able to make it happen.

On this page, there are tools and embedded widget that help buy GCOIN. You can buy ETH with a credit card, bridge ETH or MATIC on ETH to Polygon, and finally swap ETH to GCOIN on sushiswap. These actions can all be done on this single website.

WEAPON LIBRARY PAGE

We talked about this feature several updates ago, that we wanted to create a page which holds the details on the weapons, so our players can refer to when they want to do some research before buying them, or if they want to see what are the possible weapons they can forge into.

With the help from our mods, testers and passionate community members, we are able to gather in-game footage to build the weapon library page. This page will give you all the information you need about the weapon, whether it is ranged or melee, the in-game stats and even a demo video of the weapon being used in game.

B: Business Development & Marketing

During the month of August, we worked a lot on increasing our awareness and footprint on Twitter.

In the past two weeks, we wrapped up our athletes’ campaign with VaynerSports, with the highlight being Chris Weidman and Michelle Waterson.

We would like to use this moment to thank everyone who engaged with the shared Tweets through our community marketing channel on our Discord server to raise awareness and spread the word.

VSP and their athletes really enjoyed collaborating and we are now looking into further possibilities of collaboration.

According to GlowLabs, one of the tools we are using to reward our community members for engaging with us on Twitter, we have roughly 450 active community members engaging with us consistently on Twitter. This is a significant milestone, however, we want to continuously increase this number to allow for further growth.

We are laying the groundwork for continuously increasing our exposure, especially now that we have released our P2E features. Therefore, we decided to run another gleam giveaway campaign which has resulted in great results so far and is still ongoing for almost another week

We are also working on more ‘effortlessly consumable’ content to allow us to further onboard web3 native people into GFC.

Cross-IP Championship

Something that we haven’t spoken about for a while but actually have been heavily focusing on behind the scenes are the preparations for the upcoming cross-IP championship.

We are very excited to share that we have onboarded over 20 projects to participate in our upcoming championship.

C: Community

The hunt for key fragments is on!! You are being matched up with 5 strangers, you better bring your a-game! Having some decent gear obviously won’t harm you either. MrJanet our community manage is rocking the Ogre with Forty-five combo, both picked up from the floor so you can do some damage without having to spend crazy money!

For those looking to get the top gear but are a bit strapped for cash? Guilds/scholarships have never been more popular! In case you are wondering which guild is better than others, have a look below.

But first, we had a little random giveaway for those holding a Battle Pass in our discord, now that BYOPills are usable in game we thought it would be good to hand some out! Even though there is so much going on in GFC land, expect some more random love for BP holders!

Secondly, we are still looking for a new YouTube banner. We’ve had some amazing entries in discord already (look for the #banner-me-youtube channel) but we heard the feedback that you need some more time so … time is what you get! (Please note that we do not HAVE to pick a winner from the entries, we are looking for something perfect and may not find what we are looking for in the community entries)

So, about what guild is the “best”? We are keeping track of how the different guilds are doing in the different tournaments. Every team reaching the quarter finals of a tournament will accumulate points for their respective guild (if they are part of one) below you can find the results of July and August.

Talking of Guilds, we heard some rumbling about one of the top players making a move and changing alliances … are we in for some surprises in the next couple of tournaments?

And now we’re back to tournaments … the latest 2 ETH Bi-Weekly was another blast! We lowered the weapon cap to 7 to make for even more competitiveness.

This time around the top teams (those who won a 2 ETH tournament before) were given the top seeds and no surprise, all made it to the semi-final. TeamPlaySafe, The Monstars and The Way of Zen were joined by Team Kamikaze, a non-guild team! (yes they do exist!)

This made for some explosive semi finals and a wonderful final. Where TeamPlaySafe showed they are truly the best team in GFC at the moment!

Who will challenge them next week?

The GCC, partner NFT-only, tournament has been postponed until after the next GFC update. More details on discord soon.
