Dev Blog #31
Dev Blog Summary
a) Game and Web 3 Development
- P2E is live and the current testing phase we are in will last for 1–2 week. The team put in over 2000+ hours into the development for P2E in the last month alone to launch P2E and will continue spending the next 1–2 weeks debugging and refining
- We are aware of the number of issues and bugs with P2E, the main issues we will be looking to solve ASAP in the coming days include trophies not accumulating and energy on NFTs not displaying properly, we will provide more clear ETAs on when you can expect these fixes over the next 1–2 days
- A lot of it the result of our systems being overwhelmed by traffic and players (a lot of things work when it’s just a team of 20 people testing, but start breaking when you have 1000+ people). We will spend the next 1–2 weeks working through all of them. Once P2E is running smoothly we will tweak different parameters such as key fragment drop rates, energy rates and others.
- You will be able to redeem your in-game key fragments once we release our P2E dashboard. This is where you can ‘exchange’ your in-game key fragments for actual on-chain ERC-1155 NFTs. This dashboard will be released once most of the bugs on P2E have been resolved which we expect will take approximately 1 week
- If you are having trouble claiming $GCOIN, please try this temporary page https://claim.galaxyfightclub.com/, we will be rebuilding the entire login portal and dashboard after P2E is up and running smoothly — this should get rid of 90% of problems experienced right now in regards to $GCOIN claiming, email changes and others
b) Business Development & Marketing
- In the run-up to our P2E release we worked with a number of UFC Fighters through our relationship with Vaynersports to promote GFC, we also announced our partnership with the Lost Realms project, who we believe to be one of the most promising web3 gaming teams in the space — driving a significant number of new members into the GFC community as we are featured as one of their premium partners
- Our priority over the coming 1–2 weeks will be to iron out any kinks and issues to make sure P2E is running smoothly before we consider scaling rewards and driving more attention to P2E through marketing
- This will involve us making use of bigger athletes and influencers, we are also planning to be featured on podcasts as well as activating more cross-marketing initiatives with partners (like the one with Lost Realms), not to mention running qualifiers for partner projects in the run-up to the cross-IP tournament in Q4 this year
- Finally we believe the most powerful marketing force we have at our disposal is the community, which is why P2E is so powerful after-all, because it is the perfect incentive for successful word of mouth marketing. We will continue to support this through 1) doing our best to ensure P2E is a success by effectively balancing supply and demand of rewards 2) properly supplying the community with high-quality onboarding content AND incentivizing community marketing efforts through existing programs, such as our Twitter Impact Program
c) Community
- Last week’s 2 ETH bi-weekly had some explosive semifinals! The Way of Zen taking a quick 2–0 lead on TeamPlaySafe. TeamPlaySafe then changed their team composition, which looked to be the right call, coming back to a 2–2 tie only to see the Way of Zen finishing the job in style. Zen was no match for GFI in the finals taking the easy 4–1 win. They had to wait quite some time for their 2nd Tournament win, but they did so in style!
- We will also start keeping a tally on discord of which Guild won which tournaments, get them bragging rights! In time we will get a Guild power ranking going

P2E
Not only is P2E out, but a number of new features are also released in this monster update, you will see that our game version is now 2.0 to signify the significant progress and changes we made from the 1.x versions.
Other than P2E we also introduced 19 new Generation 2 characters as well 5 different BYOpills (they don’t have cooldowns yet, but they will be added).
All trophies, experience points and key fragments have been reset with this update and any new trophies, experience points and key fragments gained from this point onwards are considered ‘real’ and will be here to stay.
If you are not earning any trophies or fragments, please double check you are updated to the newest 2.x version (especially for Android device users). To check whether you are on the old or new version you can just look at your indicator for trophies, if you still see the one on the left then you are still on the old version and will not be winning any trophies or key fragments.
You also need to make sure that you there is energy attached to the NFT, which is represented by a green energy bar on your asset. Assets that do not have a green energy bar have run out of energy and are not available for earning rewards.
Any new key fragments you win from your matches will be redeemable for actual on-chain NFT versions on our website when we release the P2E dashboard. When you win a key fragment in-game you should see something like the screenshot below.
Our priority over the coming 1–2 weeks will be to iron out any kinks and issues to make sure P2E is running smoothly before we consider scaling rewards and driving more attention.
Last but not least, we know the community has been waiting for P2E for 8+ months since we decided to introduce GCOIN back at the start of the year, so we hope the community will enjoy this update as much as we do.
WORKING TOWARDS P2E
The team put in over 2000+ hours into the development for P2E in the last month alone to bring P2E to reality. There was a lot to do, there were last-minute changes and obstacles but we managed to pull it off.
We try our very best to create something new and interesting in the NFT gaming space and most importantly something that is fun. P2E does not mark the end of our journey, but rather the beginning of the journey to smooth out bugs/kinks and continue to building out other cool features for Galaxy Fight Club. We also appreciate everyone’s support and patience during this journey.
Over for past few months we have provided bi-weekly dev blogs to increase transparency into our development process, we broke the P2E feature into 9 different smaller subtasks (which contain their own sub-sub-tasks..). For those interested, for this final update on P2E we will follow old traditions once more and provide an update for each of these sub-tasks as a final report.
Task 1: NFT auth API optimized and stress tested for heavy in-game use
- Status: Live
We are planning to optimize this endpoint further after the initial launch of P2E. In order to keep track of the energy on individual NFTs (both ERC721 and ERC1155), we went ahead and built an NFT tracker ourselves. Since it is a custom tracker, it only looks at the list of partner collections and it is more efficient than the other general getNFT endpoint in the market.
We are looking to utilize this track for NFT auth API in the future and it will speed up the loading process after user login.
Task 2: Energy system for each NFT
- Status: Testing via Open Beta
Lots of balancing went on in the last 2 weeks, finalized on the regeneration rate.
We also heard suggestions from various members on how they would like to have different max energy on NFTs depending on their rarity, and we are exploring technical possibilities to implement that feature.
Task 3: Admin panel to monitor game activity and allow for team to ban players or stop players from earning key fragments
- Status: Live for team
No update on this item.
Task 4: Dashboard for key-fragments and keys (a.k.a. P2E rewards page)
- Status: Live
We finalized on the UI and had another iteration on the keys and fragments images.
After players have earned their fragments in game, they are able to connect their wallet to the p2e rewards page and mint the fragments they have earned as NFTs. This page for redeeming on-chain key fragments will be introduced once the P2E system is stabilised in-game (in around 1 week).
Task 5: New loot box contract for key fragments
- Status: Live
The new loot box contract is live, and while we were at it we also gave the loot box page a revamping to make the outlook and coloring more aligned with our branding guidelines.
Task 6: New forging contract to allow for non-genesis weapons
- Status: Ready for deployment
Much like the loot box feature, both the contract and frontend for weapon forging got updated as well last week. You would notice that the color palette has changed, and if you own any p2e weapons, they can be forged as well on this page.
(Note: p2e weapons can only be forged with other p2e weapons, no mix and matches with genesis weapons)
Task 7: Allow Gen 2 training contract to take in non-genesis weapons
- Status: Live
Training frontend also got revamped and logic updated.
P2E weapons can also be used to train Gen 2 fighters, and it can be used alongside Genesis weapons.
(Note that P2E weapons are less rare and easier to obtain than the Genesis weapon, the Gen 2 fighter trained with P2E weapons will also be less rare.)
Task 8: Non-genesis weapon in game
- Status: Live
P2E weapon NFTs are recognized by the NFT auth API and players can already play with the new weapons in game.
Task 9: Game build with rewards in place
- Status: Live
B: Business Development & Marketing
MARKETING
Throughout the past two months, we started onboarding several athletes into GFC, thanks to our working relationship with VaynerSports.
If you haven’t done so already, please make sure to go ahead and share some of the tweets with the web3 community.
So far, the lineup included the following athletes -
Daton Fix
Clay Guida
Curtis Blades
Anthony Smith
Josh Emmet
Furthermore, we’re very excited about the overall effectiveness of our newly implemented Twitter Impact Program.
Make sure to check out the leaderboard of the bigger competition by using the following link — https://nftimpact.ai/s/galaxy-fight-club and don’t forget to claim your regular rewards through the link on our website.
We are very excited about the increase in awareness gained by this campaign and will continue to build it out.
We are also looking to launch another gleam campaign this week, to increase awareness of our P2E launch and the Twitter Impact Program.
As far as partnerships are concerned, we are excited to have partnered up with Lost Realms, a project by a team from LucasArts, MachineZone, EA, Microsoft, and Y-Combinator, among others.
Their Discord has had fantastic engagement, growing organically from 0 to 15.5k members in 10 days with up to thousands of reactions on announcements. Lost Realms heroes will be integrated as characters within Galaxy Fight Club. We will also be integrated into their game alongside other partners that will disclose in the coming weeks.
C: Community
We’re stronger in teams!
What’s better than playing GFC? Playing GFC with a bunch of friends!
But? (I hear you think) I’ve convinced my friends but they’re just not at the same level as me?! I love them and all, but I want to taste sweet victory in a tournament!
Well, find some people that are more on your level!
GFC has seen an explosion of guilds and guild activity! Both existing guilds joining GFC and OG GFC members setting up their own guilds. Ranging from a handful of members to massive families of 1000’s of members. Is Comfy’s reign in danger?
It is great for the game, more people playing, more competition, different winners. Bring your A-game and it definitely showed in the latest bi-weekly 2 ETH tournament. We had a nice full bracket and Teams from 8 different guilds!
With the four semifinalists representing four different guilds: Zen (congratulations once again on the win), Comfy (thank you for being there from the get-go) and then two of the newer families, 2CG and GFI!
With so much guild action it only makes sense to get a leaderboard going! We will start keeping a tally on discord of which Guilds won which tournaments, get them bragging rights! In time we will get a Guild power ranking going — which Guild is getting the best results? (Compared to the number of teams they have participating)
Last week’s 2 ETH bi-weekly had some explosive semifinals!
Although it was a beautiful tournament, there was some discrepancy in strength between teams in the top half and the bottom half of the tournament (seeding was done randomly). To avoid that in the future, teams who won a Bi-weekly tournament in the past will now get a protected seed.
Piloting: giving someone else access to your account so they can play for you, pretending to be you.
Please note that this is against the spirit of the bi-weekly tournament (and all other GFC tournaments) and is not allowed in any GFC tournaments. Players and Guilds found involved in such toxic behaviour will be banned from any future GFC tournaments.
GFC is fun, let’s keep it that way! :)
